On June 23, in the capital of Nigeria, in the city of Abuja, a key event in the development of bilateral Belarusian-Nigerian cooperation took place – the ceremonial transfer of Belarusian agricultural machinery to farmers of the African country.
The transfer of agricultural machinery is a practical step in the implementation of the first stage of agricultural mechanization in Nigeria in accordance with the roadmap agreed in 2024. This document laid the foundation for increased cooperation between the countries, especially in the agricultural sector, which is a priority for Nigeria.
The event was attended by H.E. President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Agriculture Abubakar Shaib Kyari, heads of provinces and states, and leading farms. The Belarusian delegation was headed by H.E. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich and H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov.
The general director of the holding company «Bobruiskagromash» Mr Oleg Korsak presented to the distinguished guests a line of tillage equipment and tractor trailers shipped to Nigeria.
The Nigerian partners, led by the President of the African Republic, highly praised the Belarusian agricultural machinery and confirmed their readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the second and third phases of the agricultural mechanization program aimed at strengthening the food security of their country.
For reference: in 2025, the Bobruiskagromash supplied 6200 units of mounted and trailed equipment to Nigeria, thereby making a significant contribution to the development of agricultural mechanization in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
